Steve is the sweetest, not to mention cutest, guy I have ever known! He is just a doll!! He is 23 years old, and is currently driving the roads of America as a truck driver! So, ya, we have a REAL long distance relationship!! But we are surviving...it is hard but we are!!
I remember when we first met....I was walking with my 2 year old nephew and my sister called my name. I looked over and she and her finace were talking to this guy, and they waved me to come over. So I walked over there not knowing what they were up to. I vaguely remember her saying something about this guy she knew and wanted me to meet, but I did not think too much about it! However, at that moment when our eyes met, I knew something was there!! That night though I think we were both too nervous to do anything other than look at each other and laugh! The next time however was a lot different.
It was at my family's Labor Day bbque, and at first I did not think he would come...but he was there when I arrived! I was happy and nervous. I wanted something to happen but I was nervous and did not know what he felt towards me!! The day was spent playing with my nephews and nieces and laughing. I can still remember the day like it were yesterday! We decided to take a walk after dinner..so we walked down the street to the end, and were turning back when this dog barked and scared me! I grabbed his hand, normal reaction huh, and looked at him. He smiled and did not let go. So I thought, ok I see. We walked back hand in hand to the backyard. We sat down on the side of the street and just talked for what seemed to be forever. He gave me the most wonderful backrub ever....and we just enjoyed each others company. That is til the mosquitoes started to bite. Then we went inside the house to the sunroom and sat there, cuddling, for about an hour, listening to my nephews and nieces tease us about kissing and stuff....which we had not done yet! We then were kicked out, well it was late, and we decided to go hang out for a while more. We ended up going to his old job, a marina, which is right on the border of Lake Michigan. We sat in the back of his truck watching the stars and smiling. I won't go into too much more detail about that night, its kinda personal, but let me just say things worked out for the best!!
Since then, we have only seen each other a few more times. The time had passed quickly, and I wish we were able to be together constantly, but you know the saying, "Absense makes the heart grow fonder"!!
We were able to see each other only once over my Christmas break, but it was enjoyable! We unfortunately were not together for New Year's cause he was in Mexico for vacation, and unfortunatly Valentine's Day came and went without any word from him-- although I did recently recieve a letter from him explaining that he has been busy and is sorry. I wonder if I will see him or talk to him this weekend...I do not know where our relationship will go from here, I can hope for the best, but only the stars hold the true answer.
